 Bill Romerhaus
Bill Romerhaus has lived in Hawaii for over 50 years. He started doing photography and darkroom work as a freshman in high school. In 1965 he shot his first surfing photo and was a contributing photographer to Surfer and Surfing magazines for many years. During his college years he worked as a portrait photographer, color printer, and a military photo hobby shop manager.
In 1983, he started NORTH SHORE PHOTOGRAPHY, specializing in black & white professional darkroom services, after attaining the status as a master black & white printer for professional clients island wide.
He also worked as a contributing photographer to over 30 international Surfing magazines and manufacturers, and as a freelance writer-photographer for over 100 publications and agencies worldwide. His photos have credited him with over 200 cover shots and full page advertisements. His work has appeared in Popular Photography, Shutterbug, Shape, Surfing, Surfer, Honolulu, Men's Fitness Aloha, Honolulu Star-Bulletin & Advertiser newspapers, Outdoor, Conde Nast Traveler, National Enquirer, Discovery & History Channels, & many others.
His professional clients have included Vogue International, Hilton Hotels, Hawaiian Tropic, Warner Brothers, Universal Pictures, Aloha & Hawaiian Airlines, and No Fear clothing to name a few. His photo “Paddlers at Avalanche” (Outdoor Magazine-January 2000, also Popular Photography-April 2000) and hand colored photo series “Points of View” (in Aloha Magazine) won best published photo categories at the 1994 Hawaii Visitors Bureau Travel & Journalism Awards.
Bill is currently represented by The Photo Library Group (an international stock agency based in New York), and Photo Resource Hawaii. He now specializes in printing and marketing historic and nostalgic images of Hawaii (NOSTALGIC PHOTOS HAWAII™) from the thousands of photos he has produced and collected as a professional photographer in the past four decades living in Hawaii. His work continues to be published and purchased worldwide. |
